Tips for getting
started Thank you for choosing Newwebsite.com to meet your web hosting needs. You should receive an email shortly which also refers you to this page. In that email is some specific information regarding your account. Below is some general information that applies to all accounts. For all those using the Cpanel control panel Most experienced users are familiar with Cpanel. If you need more detailed instructions please login to your client area and submit a support ticket. For all those using the DirectAdmin control panel Once one or more of your domains resolve, you will be able to use your domain(s) instead of having to remember the server ip address you were given in your email. Just type in your browser http:// followed by your domain name and then :2222 Example: http://www.example.com:2222 Notice there is no / after the domain name. The :2222 is used to access the control panel only. Do not use :2222 for anything else. You will need to make sure there is no firewall blocking port 2222. Many home and corporate fiewalls are set up to block all ports except ones that are commonly used. You will also have to make sure you are not using any kind of proxy speed enhancing script. Many isp's provide a proxy script that may increase download speeds but it also interferes with the control panel security. One such isp is AOL. You will not be able to use the AOL browser to access the control panel. You should be able to use FireFox or Internet Explorer while connected to AOL. If you have trouble connecting to the control panel follow these steps. Check your proxy settings in IE by going to Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings. Make sure the proxy server box is unchecked. Make sure the box for use automatic configuration script is unchecked. For FireFox click Tools, Options, Advanced, Network, Settings. Make sure there are no proxy server settings configured there. Cookies must also be enabled. If you connect to the control panel login screen and fill out the username and password and click Login and the same page is returned and it does NOT say Login Failed then you either have cookies disabled or perhaps the proxy problem described above is interfering. Shared Hosting After you login the first page you see will be mostly empty. There will be a button that says Domain Administration. Click that button to begin adding your domains. Look for the link that says "Add another domain." After you add one domain the default home page you will see is the administration page for the one domain you have. After you add a second domain the default home page will return to the first one you saw with the Domain Administration button and a list of your domains. You can click on one of your domains listed there to get to its administration page. Reseller Hosting Resellers see a slightly different page when first logging in. As a reseller you have the ability to create more control panel users. The first page you see when you login has to do with managing your users. as well as viewing some other system information. To add and manage your domains you will need to first click the User Level on the right side of the screen. Then you will see a screen as described above in the Shared Hosting section. VPS/Dedicated Server with DirectAdmin control panel The default page after logging into a VPS/Dedicated Server is the Admin Level page which controls a variety of server functions. Also this is the level where you can create resellers. To create users click the Reseller Level on the right side. To add and manage your own domains click the User Level on the right side.
